HERMAN MATTHEWS BEGAN PLAYING DRUMS AT THE AGE OF SEVEN AND HAS BEEN THE BACKBONE OF WORLD-CLASS POP, ROCK, JAZZ, SOUL, R&B AND FUNK BANDS FOR NEARLY THIRTY YEARS.
 
June 25, 2010- Los Angeles, CA- East Bay Soul welcomes its newest member, the dynamic Herman Matthews. His musical contributions will undoubtedly enrich the creativity toward the measure of excellence that East Bay Soul enjoys.
 
Greg Adams says, “The first time I played with Herman was at the Tower of Power 40th reunion show at The Fillmore. After the first song, I knew I wanted to work with him one day. Exquisite grooves!”
 
Matthews credits for performances and recordings come from a long list that include Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Tower Of Power, David Foster, Michael McDonald, Phillip Bailey, Sheryl Crow, “Baby Face” Edmonds, Herbie Hancock, Steven Stills, Luther Vandross, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Patty Austin, Chaka Chan, Carol King, Ronnie Millsap, Bill Champlain, Maxi Priest, and Diane Reeves. Herman has also played for President  Bill Clinton on three occasions as well as Nelson Mandela.
 
Herman will also join Greg Adams in the mix of his other touring configurations with the first shows starting July 2010

Delta Wires Information and New Playlist Uploaded

This year marks the 40th anniversay of the San Francisco Bay Area’s “Delta Wires”.  In our current rotation, just uploaded today we are featuring three songs from the Delta Wires newest CD “Delta Wires Live @ 105 Degrees”.  The three featured songs are “Big Legged Woman, Monkey Man, & Save Your Love For Me”.

About the Delta Wires:  The DELTA WIRES is a big, high-energy harmonica and horns blues band from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area. They were Finalists out of 100 band representatives from blues societies all over the world, in the Blues Foundation’s 2008 International Blues Challenge held in Memphis TN, and were voted “BEST BAND” 2008 Oakland/East Bay in Oakland Magazine’s annual readers’ poll.

The DELTA WIRES have recorded 5 CDs, were also voted Best Live Band by readers of the East Bay Express in 2002, played the Russian River Blues Festival (w/ The Neville Bros & Dr. John) in 2009, the San Francisco Blues Festival in 2008, the Monterey Bay Blues Festival (8 times), headlined the Shasta Blues Society’s Redding Blues by the River Festival in 2005, have played Crescent City Blues Festival, Central Valley Blues Festival, Oakland Blues and Heritage Festival, Napa Valley Mustard Festival, and many others.

This week we are adding some new music to HornDrivenRadio.com.  We have new music Scott Martin and Ava Lemert, as well as music from the short lived early 70’s band Ambergris.
