TOP Ten things security people hate about Tower Of Power fans: By Al Carlos

October 23, 2009 by hdradmin

10. By the time we get to the gig we have worked ourselves up into an Oakland Raider nation frame of mind. 9. Specially trained Latinas can fling a slipper from the cheap seats and hit Security right between the eyes.
8. Once we start dancing, a swinging middle aged booty becomes a lethal weapon.
7. It is hard to tell the real convicted felons, from the computer geeks that look like them.
6. We always insist on being frisked.
5. If Emilo tells us to stand up and dance, we stand the funk up, wish security would say something.
4. Even the Church folk got attitude.
3. If I wanna sing, I’m gonna sing, don’t matter if I know the right words or not.
2. Always tell them, “If you want to break my camera take a picture of your Mama”.
1. Security is only in the mind of the observer.

Music from two soon to be released CD's and Updated Playlist….

October 21, 2009 by hdradmin

In this weeks rotation we have added songs from two different bands, both recording covers of classic Tower Of Power songs.  The first is a song from the “Mic Gillette Band” (MGB), which plays a very different version of “So Very Hard To Go” and features Mic’s daugther Megan on vocals.  Also a member of MGB, is former Tower Of Power alumni, and current Doobie Brothers member Marc Russo.  The CD is currently scheduled for release in December of this year, and is currently titled “Moondoggie”.  By the way you can catch Mic on the road with Tower Of Power as he has rejoined the band.  For more information on the Mic Gillette Band go to www.micgilletteband.com.
The second song is from the band “ReUnion” (from the central valley of California) and is the “TOP” favorite “Willing To Learn”.  ReUnion will be realeasing their first CD (currently untitled) sometime in early 2010 and it will have music from Tower Of Power, Cold Blood, plus originals.  We understand that Mic Gillette will be a guest artist on the CD as well.  For more information on the ReUnion band please go to www.soulfunk4u.com.
We are also glad to have back in our rotation the new TOP cover song from Tony Adamo “This Time It’s Real”.  Tony’s music can be found at www.strokeland.com.  Lastly, we are continuing to play three songs from Greg Adams new project “East Bay Soul“.
