Six new songs added to yesterday’s playlist update

October 26, 2011 by adminhdr

We just added six new songs to the playlist update from yesterday.

Three of the songs are from “The Headhunters” recent release (June 2011) “Platinum”.  The songs added are Salamander, Paging Mr. Wesley, and M Trane.  For more information on this CD go to : www.headhuntersplatinum.com

Also added to the playlist, are three songs from the classic Horn Rock Band “Mom’s Apple Pie”.  The three songs added are Lay Your Money Down, Love Plays A Song, and Rockin’ To The Music.

Here’s more on Mom’s Apple Pie.  Mom’s Apple Pie is an American ten-member horn rock band from Warren, Ohio. They were best known for the X-rated artwork on their first album cover that received more media attention than their music.

Music publications like “Rolling Stone” gave more copy to the cover than the music and consequently, record sales suffered. But even with the bad publicity, the band garnered national recognition and played to sold-out crowds with popular groups like the Doobie Brothers and rock star, David Bowie, in cities from New York to LA. “Mom’s” musical range, horns and overall sound have been compared to such bands as Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears.

“The Pie’s” music, when actually reviewed by critics often spoke of their massive brass-arrangements along with organ, guitar, and overall solid musicianship. Dave Mazzochi, band leader on Hammond B3 and vocals, composed and wrote a number of the band’s more popular tunes like ‘Lay Your Money Down” and “Dawn of a New Day.” Bob Fiorino was the recognizable voice of the band, lead singer and composer of many songs to include, “Secret of Life.”

Updated Playlist and New Music From Stevie Hawkins

October 25, 2011 by adminhdr

New Playlist added this week.  Below is our current playlist including new music to us from Stevie Hawkins, and his new CD What The Funk?

“What The Funk?”embodies the infuences of Bootsy Collins, Funkadelic, Sly & The Family Stone, Tower of Power, Al Green, Bobby Bland, Marvin Gaye and others. ‘What The Funk?’ was written and recorded over a two year period in (New York – LA – Atlanta – Nashville – Barbados – Boston), and features Stevie with a fabulous lineup of guest artists and musicians. Those appearing on the album include; Soul Diva Jocelyn Brown, Sista Monica Parker, Tony Lindsay, D’Layna, Funk Dogg, Cooley, Jaroslav Jakubovic, The Blues Brothers Horns, The Memphis Horns, Joe Vitale, Thiago Pinheiro, Butch Taylor, Tyrone Chase, Anthony Vitti, Sal Giorgiani, Jennifer Cosaro, Ralph Rosen, Delicious Allstars, Sanj Sen, Chuck Webb and many more.Although titled What The Funk?, the album is not entirely comprised of funk tunes. Says Stevie, “The album is a mix of funk, soul, jazz, latin, blues, with rock overtones blended throughout the tracks. Although this is me doin’ my thing, me being me, the album pays homage to some of my inspirations and influences as a vocalist and drummer such as Clyde Stubblefield, Tower of Power, Bootsy Collins and P-Funk, Al Green, Bobby Bland, George Clinton, Funkadelic, Sly & The Family Stone, James Brown, Toots Thielemans, Cold Blood, George Duke, Marvin Gaye, Junior Walker, Jimi Hendrix and others. There is a little something here for everyone. You get the funk, and then some!”With soulful vocals, deep drivin’ bass, slick guitars, a big~n~tight in your face horn section, smooth Fender Rhodes, super-funky drums, Hammond B-3 organ and clavinet, the heavy guns on this new album fire with all barrels.

For more on Stevie go to www.steviehawkins.com.
